ABOUT THE FIT SINGER

Hi! I'm Elizabeth Rotoff, aka The Fit Singer. I'm a singer, voice teacher, personal trainer and nutrition coach.
I work with singers - Performers, Voice Students, Singing Teachers and Choristers - basically anyone who LOVES to Sing - who realize how physically, mentally and emotionally demanding singing can be and are ready to take the steps they need to make every performance strong, vibrant and full of vitality.
It can be quite surprising when you first discover that your health and fitness have a direct impact on your instrument - YOU!
I guide singers to take the steps they need to:
- double their energy so they can achieve high level performances and deal with their crazy schedules
- improve immunity so that they don't have to worry about getting sick before performances.
- reduce the risk of vocal nodes, polyps, etc., while feeling their voice is as powerful as ever.
- have exceptional alignment and impressive breath management by improving core stability and functional fitness.
- learn the impact of good nutrition on the voice without counting calories and still eat foods you enjoy. It’s not all about the kale.
- reduce stress and develop a positive mindset to make it easier to give outstanding auditions and performances.
- to look and feel outrageously confident on and off the stage.
My own health took a turn for the worse after an injury left me with chronic back pain that made it difficult to sing and then further worsened with a number of inflammatory conditions. I was tired and constantly getting sick. Things turned around after I started training for triathlon and overhauled my diet. I was no longer getting sick, all my inflammatory conditions disappeared, my voice grew stronger and more vibrant and my energy went through the roof! This inspired me to learn all I could about fitness, health and nutrition. I've helped many of my own voice students to better vocal and bodily health and want to help as many singers to get an edge at accessing their true potential through a healthy lifestyle.
I bring over twenty years of experience as a voice teacher, a life time of experience as a singer and a nearly as long a passion for fitness and health. I have been a dancer and am a triathlete. I am a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. This gives me a unique insight into what's requires to make the "total package" that's sought after in a singer.
I am on a mission to empower singers to achieve optimal health for better vocal production and all the demands a singer's lifestyle entails.
Fun Facts:
I love green smoothies! They give me a great boost of energy and make me feel ready to tackle the world!!!
I love my red wine and dark chocolate!!
My son, Misha, is a world-class fencer and Olympic hopeful. I also have a daughter, Kira, who loves animals.
I met my husband, Graham, on the opera stage in a production of The Merry Widow.
My favourite bands are Muse and Dream Theater.
Official Biography
Elizabeth Rotoff is a lifestyle trainer for singers, with a multi-faceted career.
She has been a private voice teacher for 20 years. She teaches students of all ages. Many of her students have gone on to study voice at the university level in the disciplines of classical music, musical theatre and jazz. She is an active member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association. She is sought after as an adjudicator and clinician. Elizabeth, as a mezzo-soprano, has performed across Canada and in England in opera, musical theatre and recital. She has had leading roles in operas including Carmen, The Tales of Hoffman, La Clemenza di Tito, Cosi fan tutte, Die Fledermaus, Hansel and Gretel, The Medium and many more. Most recently she has performed the roie of Lalume in Kismet with the Little Opera Company.
The Edmonton Sun stated that her performance was riveting and that she has a haunting mezzo voice. The Bognor Regis Observer (England) reported, “The range of her powerful voice, coupled with an obvious deep understanding of the poetry made a memorable experience for the appreciative audience.” Opera Today said of her performance in Lennox Berkley’s A Dinner Engagement, “She was brilliantly haughty and convincingly statuesque”.
She has had dance training from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Shelley Shearer School of Dance in ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap. As a member of the Trembita Folkdance Ensemble she performed in tours throughout Manitoba, Canada and performed for Queen Elizabeth II. She was a principal dancer in productions of The Music Man and Anything Goes.
Elizabeth has a strong passion for fitness and nutrition. As a certified personal trainer, Zumba instructor, fitness and nutrition coach, and triathlete, she frequently gives presentations on cross-training and nutrition to running groups and her own private clients, as well as instructing group fitness classes. She has diplomas in Personal Nutrition, Sports Nutrition and Advanced Nutrition.
Combining her knowledge, experience and passion for both singing and fitness, it seemed only natural to start The Fit Singer to help her students and other singers become the best possible instruments for their art.
